Agrarian Discontent and the 19th Century essays

Agrarian Discontent and the 19th Century essays America, like any other nation, has always relied heavily on agriculture. Differing from other nations, however, is the problems that agriculture has created through Americas brief history. It can be argued that the Civil War was started by agriculture; the South developed as an agricultural dependent region, while the North developed as a manufacturing region; creating two distinct, almost separate cultures. Some twenty years after the Civil War, new problems were arising; that of agrarian discontent. Farmers of the 1880s and 90s were having a harder and harder time getting by. Mother Nature was showing no mercy; through grasshoppers, floods, and draughts. But the farmers placed the blame of their problems on two main areas; the money supply, and the railroads. In the late 1800s deflation became a major problem for the farmers. Farmers were suffering losses year after year and were forced to have their mortgages foreclosed on, as they saw it, by their Eastern Master (Doc D). The reason the farmers blamed this Eastern Master was no one was aiding them in their falling prices. The Populist Party felt that silver was the answer, and not coining it was a vast conspiracy against mankind across two continents, and it is rapidly taking possession of the world. They further emphasized that if this conspiracy was not dealt with, it would be the destruction of civilization (Doc A). Farmers were correct in arguing that the United States money supply was not what it should be; over 30 years the population nearly double while the money circulation rose by only 60 %( Doc C.) What they were incorrect in was their assumption that silver was the solution. They failed to recognize that they were producing way more than the worlds market could handle (Doc E.) As J. Laurence Laughlin said in Causes of Agricultural Unrest, The sudden enlargeme...

Raise Money to Publish Your Books

Raise Money to Publish Your Books I receive a dozen requests for money to publish per week. Sometimes more. Some just want me to write them a check. Others want me to point them to a grant that covers all costs. Sometimes I can find a small grant for them to apply to (usually in the hundreds at most), but I always point them toward crowdfunding. Youd be amazed at how many people dont want crowdfunding. The reasons are crazy (and these are from actual emails): 1) You have to work too hard; 2) You have to understand how to do a video; 3) You have to know people to promote to; 4) Part of the money goes to someone else (i.e., the crowdfunding entity); 5) Most crowdfunding doesnt succeed, so the odds of failing make it not worth the trouble; 6) I dont like marketing. Well, sweet people, if you think any of the above, then you really should not be publishingperiod. You will experience all of the above (with maybe the exception of the video) in whatever publishing experience you choose. Writers all over the world are choosing crowdfunding to jump-start their books. In case you do not understand crowdfunding, it consists of this: 1) You study publishing projects on crowdfunding sites to get an idea of what makes for success. 2) You sign up with your project at one of the crowdfunding sites (Kickstarter.com, Indiegogo.com,RocketHub.com, Unbound.com, Crowdfunder.co.uk). 3) You decide how much you need (you pad it with the fee of the crowdfunding entity). 4) You decide what rewards you want to give to pledgers who offer to support your project (you work the expense of those rewards into your budget). 5) You set a time frame for supporters to pledge. 6) You post your video, budget, justification, endorsers, and/or description of your book/project. 7) You work it like a blog, a newsletter, a social media page. 8) You ask for support. You promote. You seek endorsements. Again, you promote. Learn more here: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/sep/14/how-kickstarter-became-one-of-the-biggest-powers-in-publishing-crowdfunding You want money to publish your book? Crowdfund. If you find you arent successful crowdfunding, then step back and study what you need to change, because its your prowess at crowdfunding that serves as a barometer as to how well youd sell any book.with any publisher.in any genre.at any time.

Research a women's health condition and interview someone that has Essay

Research a women's health condition and interview someone that has personally faced this issue - Essay Example By far the most common form of cystitis is known as Bacterial Cystitis. About 20-40% of women will suffer from bacterial cystitis in their lifetimes. 1 Interstitial cystitis ( IC) is caused by a trauma to the bladder, the exact causes are not known but; Some IC patients reported that their symptoms began after a traumatic event, such as a fall, car accident, pelvic surgery (i.e. hysterectomy or ovarian cyst removal), childbirth or chemical exposure in a swimming pool.   Others believed that their IC began after a severe UTI or as a result of another medical condition, such as fibromyalgia. Some patients thought that their excessive drinking of sodas (diet & regular sodas), c coffees and/or alcohol was the cause of their IC. The common factor in all of these events is their potential for irritating the bladder wall. ( Interstitial Cystitis Network) Other types of cystitis which less common are known as eosinophilic cystitis ( caused by the appearance of a large number of bacteria called ecosinophils) ,radiation cystitis ( found in patients with cancer) and hemorrhagic cystitis. For all types of cystitis the symptons are generally the same, frequent and painful urination, cloudy and foul smelling urine and pain in the lower back and kidney area. Taking a urine test will show the appearance of blood in the urine and the presecene of white or red blood cell to combating the infection. If cystitis is left untreated or worsens it can lead to a number of complications including kidney infections and renal failure. This assignment deals with treating the more common Bacterial Cystitis. In the majority of cases the condition can be successfully treated at home and the symptoms will clear up within 2-3 days. Home treatments include drinking lots of fluids including cranberry juice. For fast and effective pain relief taking one teaspoon of bio-carbonate of soda in a class of water or buying over
